Weddings

We are always excited about the opportunity to participate with you in preparing for marriage.  It is an honor to work with couples and help provide tools to have a God-honoring and healthy marriage. If you are getting married and would like a Colonial pastor to provide pre-marriage coaching and/or perform your wedding ceremony please review the guidelines below.

Guidelines:

1.Colonial Church pastors request a four month minimum time period between the first session and the wedding date in order to have adequate premarital coaching and preparation time.  In cases where this is not available special arrangements can be made.

2. Pre-marriage coaching is generally four to six one-hour sessions with a marriage mentor couple or pastor.

3. Colonial Church mentor couples/pastors reserve the right to discontinue pre-marriage coaching and/or NOT officiate the wedding at any point if he determines the couple is not ready for marriage at that time.

4. Colonial pastors are NOT wedding planners/coordinators.

5. The marriage ceremony must be God honoring with appropriate music and dress.

6. Colonial Church pastors reserve the option to decline attendance to the wedding rehearsal/rehearsal dinner.

Payment Guidelines:

•   Pre-Marital Coaching Fees:  Colonial Church requires a fee of $50 per couple due at the first appointment. This fee covers Prepare&Enrich assessment and coaching materials. (Checks should be made out to Colonial Church.) Couples getting married in Texas are eligible for a marriage license discount from the state of around $60 after the completion of 4 hours of pre-marriage coaching. Our pastors can provide the necessary documentation when needed.

Please know that our sole purpose in providing pre-marriage coaching is to help couples start their marriage in a God-honoring and healthy way - not to provide a discount. If for any reason the 4-hour requirement is not met, Colonial pastors are not obligated to sign off on the discount.

•   Minister Payment: An honorarium of $250 for the minister should be given directly to the minister at the last pre-marital appointment or at the wedding ceremony.

•   Minister Expenses: If the wedding takes place out of town, the couple is responsible for the minister’s travel expenses, lodging (if needed) and a $30 per diam for meals.  The minister reserves the right to make his own travel arrangements.

By submitting this form you are agreeing to all the terms listed above.  Thank you for including Colonial Church in your wedding plans.  We pray that the process is helpful and your marriage is blessed. Please note that you are meeting with an ordained pastor, not a licensed therapist.
